Assay Testing & Refinery
Every gram of gold we trade is independently tested and certified for purity.
Gold Assay Testing
Assay testing determines the exact purity and composition of gold. We use fire assay — the gold standard method — which involves melting the sample and chemically separating impurities to measure pure gold content with accuracy to 0.01%.
Independent Laboratory Verification
All assay tests are conducted by independent, accredited laboratories — not by SSC Kenya. This ensures unbiased results. Buyers may also appoint their own laboratory representative to witness the testing process.
Refinery Process
Raw gold (nuggets, dore) is processed at certified refineries to achieve the desired purity level. The refinery process includes smelting, chemical treatment, and casting into standardized bars or forms as specified in the purchase agreement.
Purity Certification
Upon completion of assay testing and refinery processing, a Purity Certificate is issued. This document states the gold weight, purity percentage, assay method used, laboratory name, and date of testing. It accompanies every shipment.
Gold Purity Standards
| Product Type | Typical Purity | Fineness |
|---|---|---|
| Gold Nuggets | 85–95% | 850–950 |
| Gold Dore Bars | 88–95% | 880–950 |
| Refined Gold Bars | 99.5%+ | 995–999.9 |
